Last month, Disney confirmed that Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will be returning to reprise their roles as the delightfully wicked Sanderson Sisters in the live-action comedy “Hocus Pocus 2″  Which is a sequel to Disney’s 1993 Halloween cult classic “Hocus Pocus” and it will be coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2022.

In “Hocus Pocus 2,” three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.

Some new details on the story have been revealed, as according to The Illuminerdi, the main lead of “Hocus Pocus 2” will be a high school-aged girl named “Becca”.   She is a loner without many friends and a stepmother she hates, Becca is an aspiring witch who manages to get her hands on a new dark flame candle at the town’s magic shop located in the Sanderson Sisters old cottage.

Another character in the film, is her classmate, “Izzy”, who is a confident oddball, Becca mistakenly summons the Sanderson Sisters on Halloween night leading to chaos in the town as the girls’ race to find a way to stop the witches who still seek youth and immortality.

“Hocus Pocus 2” will begin production this fall and will be directed by Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal,” “27 Dresses”).  She has taken over the directing responsibilities from Adam Shankman, who will be directing the “Enchanted” sequel instead, though he will be a producer on the film along with Lynn Harris (“The Shallows”) serving as producer.

The first “Hocus Pocus” film is available to watch on Disney+ now.
