Disney has announced it will be attending the 60th Annecy Animated Film Festival in France, which is taking place from June 14th to 19th 2021.
During the event, there will be the world premiere of the Walt Disney Animation Studios short film “Far From the Tree”, with a pre-recorded intro by director Natalie Nouriga.
This screening will be taking place on Tuesday, June 15th, 8:30 p.m at the Bonlieu Grande Salle.
In “Far From the Tree”, curiosity gets the better of a young raccoon whose frustrated parent attempts to keep them both safe.
“Far From the Tree” is directed by Natalie Nourigat, who also directed the short film, Exchange Student, which was released on Disney+ in January 2020 as part of Disney Animation’s Short Circuit Experimental Films.
“Annecy is such a special place for me,” Nourigat says, “and I am thrilled to bring my second animated short film to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. While I wish I could be there to present Far From the Tree in person, I am honored to join the Festival on the virtual stage.”
This new short will be making its theatrical debut later this year when it’s released with Disney Animation’s upcoming feature film, “Encanto“.
Also during the event will be a sneak peek at the Disney+ animated series “Iwájú,” a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Disney Animation and Kugali Media.
There will also be a special showing of Pixar’s “Luca”, preceded by a live introduction with director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren. “Luca” will be coming to Disney+ on June 18th.
And there will be a screening of “Us Again”, which will also be coming to Disney+ on June 4th.
