New details on an upcoming 61st animated classic film from Walt Disney Animation Studios have been revealed by Discussing Film.
The new film will be released in the Fall of 2022. It will be directed by Don Hall, who has previously directed “Raya and the Last Dragon” and “Big Hero 6”. He is also currently working on the new “Baymax” Disney+ series.
Don Hall will be teaming back up with Qui Nguyen, who will be writing the new animated film, having previously worked together on “Raya and the Last Dragon”. Roy Conli will produce the untitled film for Walt Disney Animation Studios, who also previously worked on “Raya and the Last Dragon” and will be executive produced by chief creative officer Jennifer Lee.
Casting is currently underway for the main character called Ethan, who is a Bi-racial (Caucasian/African-American) 14-year old. Disney is looking for someone over 18 to provide the voice of Ethan, who according to the logline, “sounds very typical as far as teenagers go. Playful and quick-witted, but can also retreat. He can be a wise-ass, but he isn’t particularly tough. The actor voicing him should be funny, likeable, & sound like a 14-year-old, but also possess the ability to quickly turn inward and show us a soft emotional side.”
No official details on the film have been announced by Disney.
