One of the best additions to the Disney family as a result of the 20th Century Fox purchase has been National Geographic. From all their award-winning documentaries and series, it fits right in with the Disney family. So much so, that on the launch of Disney+, Nat Geo received its own tile hub on the service. And the latest partnership with Neon pictures will be no different.

Neon Pictures revealed on Wednesday that they will also come on board with  ‘Fire of Love’. This Sara Dosa’s documentary had its premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. This new documentary feature explores the lives and work of French volcanologists, Katia and Maurice Krafft, through rare archival footage.

This is not the first time Nat Geo and Neon have come together to produce a documentary feature. Their first partnership was in Matthew Heineman’s Covid documentary ‘The First Wave’. When it comes to ‘Fire of Love’, they will handle a planned summer release ahead of its debut on Disney+. At this time there is no official date that this will drop.

As Deadline reports:

“Shane Boris, Ina Fichman and Dosa produced Fire of Love, which is narrated by Miranda July. Executive Producers are Greg Boustead and Jessica Harrop of Sandbox Films, Carolyn Bernstein of National Geographic Documentary Films, and Josh Braun and Dan Braun of Submarine. The feature doc is a Sandbox Films, Intuitive Pictures & Cottage M production. It is edited by Erin Casper and Jocelyne Chaput; the pic won an editing award at Sundance.”

You can catch ‘The First Wave’ right now on Hulu and on Disney+ internationally.
