Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced that Disney would be closing down over 100 channels by the end of the year as the company positioned itself to focus on its streaming service, Disney+.

On October 1st, Disney continued the closure of its linear traditional television channels.  The Disney Junior channels in Germany, Austria and Switzerland have been closed down.

Also, with the launch of Disney+ in more countries across South East Asia, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, later this year, Disney has also closed down 13 Disney and Fox Channels.

The following channels in South East Asia have closed down:

  • Disney Channel
  • Disney Junior
  • FOX Movies
  • FOX Action Movies
  • FOX Family Movies
  • FOX
  • FOX Life
  • FOX Crime
  • FOX Sports 1
  • FOX Sports 2
  • FOX Sports 3
  • Nat Geo People
  • Channel V

Unfortunately, Disney+ hasn’t yet launched in some countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam, so Disney fans no longer have access to Disney’s content.

Disney has closed channels around the world, including in the United Kingdom and Australia.  Last month, it was announced that Star Premium channels in Latin America are due to close in early 2022.

Expect more TV channels to be closed worldwide in the coming years as Disney shifts its focus to its streaming services.

What do you think of these Disney Channels closing?
