Disney has signed a new contract with “Modern Family” co-creator Steve Levitan to a five year deal, which has cost Disney $125 million.

The deal will see him remain as a co-showrunner on the final season of Modern Family and will be creating, developing and directing new projects.

He spoke with on Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast about his plans, which include creating new shows for Disney+

“There are a lot of opportunities at the new company — whether it’s developing for ABC or Hulu, FX or Disney+, I’m excited about the opportunities.  Once Modern Family ends, I will take a three-week breather and dive right back in.”

There has been some talk of doing a Modern Family spin-off series, but nothing yet has been confirmed.

This continues the trend of Disney signing up creators to long standing deals to make sure they have content for their network channels and streaming services such as Hulu and Disney+.
