One of the first Marvel Studios projects announced for Disney+ was “What If”, which will be Marvel Studios first animated series and is based on the popular comic book series of the same name, which will showcase well-known characters from the MCU in different timelines, with the theme “What If”.  Such as “What If Peggy Carter was given the Super Soldier Serum?” or “What If T’Chala was Starlord”?

During last years Investor Day event, it was revealed that the series would be coming to Disney+ in 2021 and with the show being animated, production on the series could still continue during the pandemic, better than a live-action series like “WandaVision”.

Recently, Entertainment Weekly, highlighted some of the biggest shows coming to the streaming platforms over the summer and listed the new Marvel “What If” show for an August release, along with a new description for the series.

What if instead of Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) actually became the first Super Soldier? That creative brainstorming exercise is the heart of What If…?, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first animated series. The anthology reimagines numerous major events from the movies in game-changing ways, and also features Chadwick Boseman, who was able to reprise T’Challa via voice work before his death.

No official release date for “What If” has yet been announced, but earlier this month, Disney released a new trailer highlighting some of this summers biggest new releases, which included a first look at the upcoming “What If” series.

And also, recently, some new merchandise for the series has been leaking out into retailers, which is usually an indication that a show is going to be releasing soon.

With “Loki” set to launch on the 9th of June and set to run for 6 weeks, it would mean “What If” could easily fill the void, until the next live-action series, “Ms Marvel” and “Hawkeye” arrive on Disney+ later in the year.

Do you think Marvel’s “What If” will arrive on Disney+ in May?
