Disney+ is going to be getting another new Marvel series as, according to Variety, Marvel Studios has begun development on new Disney+ series based on “Echo”, who is a deaf Native American superhero that will be debuting in the upcoming “Hawkeye” series later this year. “Echo” will be played by Alaqua Cox, who is making her on-screen debut in the Disney+ series.
Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen will be writing the show and will also be executive producers on the series. Marvel has assembled a writers’ room together to create the new series.
“Echo” has a similar ability to “Taskmaster”, where she can mimic other people’s moves. The character was originally introduced in the Daredevil comic book series in 1998. Kingpin killed her father when she was 9 and then raised her, while convincing her that Daredevil had killed her father. However, she fell in love with Matt Murdock and when she discovered the truth, she became a hero. It’s possible that Marvel might change her origin, however with Matt Murdock rumoured to appear in the “She-Hulk” Disney+ series and the third Spider-Man film, it’s possible. She was also the original “Ronin”, which was the name Hawkeye used in “Avengers: Endgame”.
Marvel has multiple Disney+ series in development including “Loki”, “Hawkeye”, “Ms Marvel”, “Moon Knight”, “She-Hulk”, “Ironheart”, “Secret Invasion”, “Armor Wars” and a “Black Panther” spin-off.
