To celebrate Star Wars Day, Disney has released a brand new animated short featuring Maggie Simpson called “Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap.’
Marge takes Maggie to a new Star Wars themed nursery, where she has her pacifier taken away, and with the help of a BB-8 droid, she tried to get it. This leads her to an epic lightsaber battle with a Sith version of her monobrow arch-nemesis.
It’s bonkers and doesn’t make any sense, but there are lots of great easter eggs, cameos and Star Wars visual gags to keep you entertained.
And since short is only around 2 minutes long, I actually watched it three times in a row to make sure I caught all the little jokes. You’ll also want to watch right through the credits as it features some lovely artwork that mashes together the two universes.
“Maggie Simpson In ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap” really shows how Disney can use “The Simpsons” in some new ways, which isn’t bad considering how long these franchises have been around.
This little short is, without a doubt, worth checking out, especially for fans of “Star Wars” or “The Simpsons”. I loved it, and it hit the spot perfectly. There were a couple of gags that did make me chuckle, especially the one with the Walt Disney Company stocks dropping.
If you enjoyed the other Maggie Simpson shorts (which are also available on Disney+), then you’ll love this one too.
