Disney’s ABC has given a green light to a pilot for the return of the classic drama series “L.A Law”, which aired for eight seasons on NBC between 1986 and 1994.  The new version will see Blair Underwood returning in the role of attorney Jonathan Rollins and he will also be an executive producer for the show.

In the new version, the focus will be on the new generation of lawyers at the firm and there are also likely to be other original cast members returning should the pilot be picked up for a full series.

The sequel pilot is being written and executive produced by Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed. Anthony Hemingway will be directing the pilot and will also be an executive producer.   The original series creator’s widow, Dayna Bochco, and their son, Jesse are also involved in creating the series as executive producers.

20th Television is returning to create the series, having previously created the previous 8 seasons.   Should the pilot be given the go-ahead to a full series, expect this series to be released on ABC and Hulu in the US.  Internationally it’ll be released on Disney+ as a Star Original.
