This week saw Disney released the finale of Marvel Studios Disney+ series “Loki” and during the end credits, it was announced that the show will be returning for a second season.
While very little is known about the second season, during an interview with Deadline, the shows director and executive producer, Kate Herron, has confirmed she will not be returning for the second season.
“I’m not returning. I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited. I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.”
She was also asked if she will be doing any other projects with Marvel in the future and replied:
“No, I’m just focused on my own stuff at the moment. I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”
“Loki” has been the biggest original hit on Disney+ so far and has pulled in large audiences, along with positive reviews from critics and fans. While Kate Herron has said she currently isn’t involved with Marvel, it’s been known on many occasions, where things later change or they aren’t in a position to say anything as contracts haven’t been signed.
The entire first season of “Loki” is available to stream on Disney+ now.
