Disney is currently developing a new film based on the popular Disney theme park attraction, “The Haunted Mansion”, and according to Deadline, Justin Simien will be directing the film.

Justin Simien has previously directed “Dear White People” and “Bad Hair”.

No plot details on this upcoming movie have yet been revealed. The attraction can be found at many of the Disney Theme Parks, with the original opening in Disneyland in California in 1969. Guests travel through the foreboding estate in a Doom Buggy, with the disembodied voice of the Ghost Host is your private guide through the cadaverous dwelling—home to grinning ghosts and other spectral surprises. Then they glide past a rattling casket in the conservatory, before heading off to Madame Leota’s spooky séance room. They also float by the Grand Ballroom and its waltzing apparitions before taking a spin through a cemetery where the spirited residents regale you with song.

This isn’t the first time Disney has made a film about “The Haunted Mansion”, as the company released a film in 2003 starring Eddie Murphy, and this is available on Disney+.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who has been working with Disney on many films, including the live-action adaptation of “Aladdin,” are producing the film through their production company Rideback. With Nick Reynolds of Rideback also serving as executive producer.

Disney has had success with turning its famous attractions into films, with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise being the most popular and this summer “, Jungle Cruise” is set to become another big hit.

Are you excited for a new version of “The Haunted Mansion”?
