Last month, details on a new pilot currently being developed by 20th Television starring Hilary Swank was revealed, and now Deadline is reporting that Jeff Perry has joined the show as the male lead.
This new unnamed Alaskan based pilot stars Hilary Swank as Eileen, a star journalist who moves to Alaska for a fresh start after a career-killing misstep, and finds redemption personally and professionally joining a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage.
Jeff Perry plays Stanley, a solid leader but not without his own quirks. A journeyman journalist, raised in Alaska. He’s had a long career as an editor working in various metro dailies in the lower 48. He came back to Anchorage with the express idea of running the daily metro newspaper in Anchorage. He sees the end of the line now and wants to leave the paper better than when he found it, which is an impossible task. Having worked with Eileen (Swank) twenty years ago, he seeks her out to join him in Alaska with a job offer at the paper.
The series will be directed by Tom McCarthy, who will also be writing and executive producing the pilot. With Hilary Swank also executive producing, along with Melissa Wells, Bert Salker along with Anchorage Daily News President and CEO Ryan Binkley and reporter Kyle Hopkins.
Jeff Perry has previously starred in the ABC series “Scandal”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, and “One Dollar”.
ABC has ordered the pilot, and should it become a full series, we should expect the series to be released on ABC and Hulu in the United States and as Star Original on Disney+ internationally, in addition to Disney+ Hotstar and Star+.
