It’s a week of Star Wars series gossip as we have another new potential show rumor floating around the Internet, a Disney+ series based on Obi-Wan Kenobi.

There has been talk of a Obi-Wan Kenobi movie starring Ewan McGregor for years, especially with Disney releasing movies such as Solo and Rogue One in their “Star Wars Story” franchise.

However following the lack of box office success for Solo: A Star Wars, it appeared as if the movie was put on hold.

StarWarsNewsNet is reporting that the series is the next top priority for Disney and the season could include up to 6 episodes.

Ewan McGregor has been actively talking about being happy to return to the role, as when he was promoting last years Disney movie, Christopher Robin, he told the “View”

“I would totally do it, of course.  There’s no plans as such to do it, as far as I know.  I’ve been asked this question for years and years. I’d be happy to do it.  There must be a good story to tell as they’re doing spin-offs – there’s likely to be a good Obi-Wan between me and Alec Guinness.  I’ve answered ‘yes’ so many times it looks like I’m touting for work!”

He also appeared at the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story, so hasn’t completely stepped away from the Star Wars universe.

There have been lots of rumors this week of Star Wars shows coming to Disney+, including characters like Finn, Poe, Rose, Captain Phasma, Darth Bane, Princess Lea and others.  So this Obi-Wan series rumor should be taken with a pinch of salt, since nothing has been confirmed.

With Star Wars Celebration coming up this April, a new announcement could be possible, but the focus is expected to be on the two Disney+ series, The Mandalorian and The Clone War, plus Episode 9.  But a small announcement would help keep some of these rumors in check.

What do you think of a Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ ?
