Hulu has revealed its testing it’s first social feature, which will allow subscribers of its ad-free tier to host “Watch Parties”.   This new feature will allow groups of up to eight people who are over the age of 18, to co-view TV shows and movies on Hulu.  Groups will have a chat window available throughout, so they can communicate together.

It’s not yet been revealed how long this test will be going on before.  Watch Parties have become very popular during the current Coronavirus situation and Disney have been hosting many watch parties on social media for Disney+ and Hulu.

This feature is available on Hulu-compatible web browsers on PC and Mac computers, it won’t need any additional browser plug-ins or extensions.  It can be launched by hitting the “Watch Party” icon, which will then provide a link that can be used to invite friends and family.

If a member of the group drops out due to a poor internet connection, there is also a button to allow them to “catch up”.
