Disney is once again looking to its past to boost, as recently Billy Ray Cyrus spoke about a potential “Hannah Montana” prequel series being in development about his character, Robby Stewart.

While speaking to Hollywood Life, he said:

“They’re talking about doing a prequel, which to me, I would do that in a heartbeat. Because that means I get to get my mullet back.”

He then added:

“I think there’s a whole story that led up to Miley becoming Hannah Montana,”

In the original series, some details were revealed about Robby Stewart’s early years, where he went by the stage name “Robbie Ray,” and was a successful country music singer-songwriter charting three number one hits and two top fives. He also won a music video of the year award and an International Music Award for artist of the year. He was also honored with a diamond on the Hollywood Parade of Diamonds (a parody of the Hollywood Walk of Fame) prestigiously located in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. After his wife Susan, who was played by Brooke Shields, died he retired from his career to look after his two children.

It would be unlikely that Miley Cyrus would want to return for a sequel series, as she has spent the last few years trying to distance herself from her “Hannah Montana” day and I’d doubt Disney would want to bring her back.

However a spin-off prequel series would help Disney tap into the nostalgia that is proving so popular and why they are making a new followup series to the Disney Channel Original show, Lizzie McGuire.

All four seasons of “Hannah Montana” and the two movies are available to stream now on Disney+.

Disney hasn’t announced any details on this potential new series, but would you be interested in a “Hannah Montana” prequel?
