As part of Disney+ Day, Disney has announced some new details on the upcoming British original series romantic action-comedy thriller “Wedding Season”.

Gavin Drea (“Valhalla”, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”) is confirmed to star opposite Rosa Salazar as her on-again, off-again lover Stefan. Salazar stars as Katie, a picture-perfect bride who we meet on her wedding day surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family.

Also joining the series is Jade Harrison (“Foundation”, “The Stranger”) and Jamie Michie (“Back To Life”, “Game of Thrones”), who will play the measured DCI Metts and volatile DI Donahue, the police detectives charged with investigating the murders of Katie’s husband and his family.

In addition to Drea, Callie Cooke (The Stranger, Rules of the Game), Bhav Joshi (“Deadwater Fell”, “Vigil”), Ioanna Kimbook (“Inside No. 9”, “Bitter Wheat” (Garrick theatre)) and Omar Baroud (“Baptiste”, “The Innocents”) join as Stefan’s close-knit group of friends who together, are navigating the Wedding Season summer packed with a seemingly never-ending procession of engagement drinks, stag-dos, hen-dos, and weddings. George Webster (“Finding Alice”, “Industry”) stars as Hugo Delaney, Katie’s husband.

This genre-busting escapist romance is about two people who shouldn’t be together, but who can’t stay away from one another. The series follows Katie, a picture-perfect bride who we meet on her wedding day, surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family.

Dancing Ledge Productions and Jax Media are creating it. Dancing Ledge Production has previously worked on “The Salisbury Poisonings”, while Jax Media worked on Netflix’s “Emily In Paris”.

“Wedding Season” will consist of 8 episodes.  No release date has yet been announced.

The Walt Disney Company has committed to sourcing, developing and producing a slate of 60 original series in Europe by 2024. It is part of over 340 local originals being created for Disney+ around the world.
