Disney’s FX is developing a brand new limited series based on the popular book “Homeland Elegies”, with Kumail Nanjiani set to star and executive produce. He is currently working on the “Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi” Disney+ series and will be seen in Marvel’s “Eternals” this winter.
The book is about the hope and identity of a nation that is coming apart at the seams, “Homeland Elegies” blends fact and fiction to tell an epic story of belonging and dispossession in the world that 9/11 made. Part family drama, part social essay, part picaresque adventure — at its heart, it is the story of a father, a son, and the country they both call home.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ayad Akhtar is adapting the book, with Oren Moverman, who will be directing the eight-episode limited series.
This project is being executive produced by Sight Unseen’s Julia Lebedev and Eddie Vaisman, who has previously worked on “Bad Education”, and Inimitable Pictures Nimitt Mankad and his.
Disney’s FX was able to secure the rights to the novel, after a very competitive bidding war. As with all new FX shows, we should expect to see this series on Hulu in the United States and a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
