Ever since Disney announced it was creating a new streaming service, there has been a question about where Freeform content might eventually up.    Ben Sherwood, President of Disney-ABC Television Group, confirmed last year that upwards of 8,000 ABC TV episodes for the new Disney+, but there hasn’t been much confirmation of how Freeform content such as Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, Pretty Little Liars, Siren etc.

Recently Freeform President Tom Ascheim spoke with Decider and briefly mentioned how Freeform might be part of Disney+.

“We probably won’t have a big role on ESPN+, but I know that we will find somewhere between Disney+ and Hulu and the details will be revealed to all of us,”

Freeform does currently have its own streaming service, but it looks doubtful if it would continue once Disney+ launches and the 21st Century Fox purchase is complete so Disney have control over Hulu.

The channel does sit in an odd situation, some of its content is very family friendly, while other shows are more focused towards teenagers and adults.

Hopefully we find out some more details on where Freeform content will land, splitting it between Hulu and Disney+ seems like it will be confusing for customers.

Freeform content will certainly attract more viewers to Disney+, offering a wider range of content for teenagers and also for adults.

More details on Disney+ will be revealed at the Investor Day on April 11th, which will hopefully give a clearer view of where Freeform content will land.

My Take: Personally, I feel Freeform seems more of a natural fit for Disney+, while the shows do offer more adult content, its still only rated TV-14, so doesn’t push the boundaries too much plus the channel runs lots of classic Disney movies and specials.  So it’s content is already within the Disney brand.  It would also give adults access to more shows, since the platform needs more than just Marvel and Star Wars shows to keep them subscribed.

Would you prefer Freeform content on Hulu or Disney+?
