Lucasfilm has been working on a new Indiana Jones movie for years and the fifth instalment in the series is due to hit cinemas on July 9th 2021, having already been delayed multiple times.

According to Variety, Steven Spielberg will no longer be returning to direct the film, as talks are currently underway with director James Mangold, who previously directed “Logan” & “Ford v Ferrari”, to take over the project.

Steven Spielberg will remain as a hands-on producer on the new Indiana Jones movie, but wants to pass the character onto a new generation. He is currently working on 20th Century Studios “West Side Story”, which hits cinemas this Christmas.

Recently actor, Harrison Ford, spoke about the project, confirming filming is due to begin soon, but is still going through some changes.

With a change in director, it does look likely that the film will once again be pushed back,

Currently the previous Indiana Jones movies aren’t available to stream on Disney+, due to Paramount Pictures holding the distribution rights to the previous films. However the new movie wouldn’t be included in that deal.
