During a special presentation at the Annecy International Animation Festival in France, Disney’s head of animation Becky Bresee and head of effects animation Marlon West previewed three animated shorts from Disney’s Short Circuit animated shorts program, to over a thousand people in attendance.

The three shorts included “Just a Thought,” directed by Brian Menz, “Exchange Student,” directed by Natalie Nourigat and “Jing Hua,” directed by Jerry Huynh.

Disney have released three images of the new shorts:

“Jing Hua” by director Jerry Huynh, follows a grieving woman who pays tribute to her recently departed teacher with a magical form of kung fu.

What happens when your innermost thoughts take on a life of their own? This is “Just a Thought” by director Brian Menz

“Exchange Student” by Natalie Nourigat – a tale about an Earthling girl who feels like an outsider at a school for aliens.

The shorts are part of Short Circuit, the program where anyone at the Walt Disney Animation Studios can pitch an idea and potentially be selected to create an original short film with the support of the Studio and their fellow artists.

More Short Circuit shorts are coming exclusively to Disney+ in Spring 2020.
