Disney is currently developing a brand new film based on the “Tron” franchise, which is presently called “Tron: Ares” and will be directed by Garth Davis (Lion) with Jared Leto (Morbius) set to star in the film.

Recently, the DisInsider shared some details that could indicate that production is set to start up in early 2022.

One of the original locations from both “Tron” and “Tron: Legacy”, has recently had a “Flynn’s Arcade” neon sign installed on the outside of the “Hull Building” in Culver City, California.  The build recently housed a garage door company called, “A1 Garage Doors & Gates.”

Development on the third film has been underway for years, but with the original location of the film being given a makeover, it’s looking much more likely that filming is due to begin soon.

The DisInsider has also shared that they’ve heard “whispers” of a Disney+ series also being in early development.  But this should still be treated as a rumour as nothing has been officially confirmed regarding a Disney+ series.

The first two “Tron” movies are available on Disney+, along with the animated series.

Disney is also currently constructing a Tron themed rollercoaster at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, which is a copy of the fantastic ride at the Shanghai Disney Resort (my favourite attraction at the theme park!).

Are you looking forward to returning to the Grid?

I just hope that there won’t be a Master Control Program 2.0 in this upcoming “Tron” sequel.
