There’s a new Disney Channel Original Movie in production, and What’s On Disney Plus has an exclusive sneak peek at one of the sets!  As was recently reported on this site:

“Spin” follows Rhea (Vandanapu), an Indian American teen who learns she has a passion for creating DJ mixes that blend the textures of her Indian heritage and the world around her. Her life revolves around her eclectic group of friends, Molly, Watson and Ginger, her after-school coding club, her family’s Indian restaurant and her tight-knit, multigenerational family, which has only grown closer since her mother’s passing. Everything changes when she falls for aspiring DJ Max and a long lost fervor for music is re-ignited. Rhea discovers that she has a natural gift for creating beats and producing music but must find the courage to follow her true inner talent.

Late this week, the production crew was in Brampton, Ontario, Canada where they had converted a former hardware store-turned-steakhouse restaurant into “Spirit of India.”

According to notices posted downtown, both the interior and exterior of the unit were completely decked out to fit the theme.

Production is scheduled to last from October 5 to November 20, 2020. The film was previously at Mississauga’s ultramodern Sheridan College campus, on a colourful stage in Toronto’s High Park, as well as in an espresso bar in Toronto, and in Toronto’s Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute.

Bloor Street Productions is producing the film for Disney Channel. This is typical of DCOMs: Kim Possible was filmed by Middleton Productions, while Bad Angels Productions has co-produced Descendants and Upside-Down Magic. All three films were produced in British Columbia, Canada’s Pacific province

Canada is buzzing with movie and television productions, despite the challenges of COVID-19. While many productions are based out of formal movie studios, Spin is using a former Bacardi plant as its offices, according to the address provided by crew union IATSE. Just down the road, an Amazon Prime series is being filmed in a former warehouse of hardware chain Canadian Tire.

Disney Channel Original Movies are added to Disney+ soon after release.
