Disney has announced it will be releasing the 1980s TV Star Wars special “Ewoks: The Battle for Endor” on Disney+ on Friday 2nd April in the United States, Canada, UK and Ireland. It’s a sequel to “Caravan of Courage”, which will also be available on Disney+ on the same day.
The army of the Marauders, led by King Terak and the witch Charal, attack the Ewoks village, killing Cindel’s family. Cindel and the Ewok Wicket escape and meet Teek in the forest, a naughty and very fast animal. Teek takes them to a house in which an old man, Noa, lives. Like Cindel, he also crashed with his Starcruiser on Endor. Together they fight Terak and Charal.
Warwick Davis returned to play “Wicket”, who was the main Ewok from “Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi”. The film also stars Aubree Miller, Wilford Brimley, and Siân Phillips.
The movie originally debuted on ABC in November 1985 and was also released on home video, in addition to being released on DVD and Amazon Video (though it was later removed from sale). It was also awarded the Outstanding Special Visual Effects award at the Emmys and also got two nominations for Outstanding Children’s Program and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or a Special.
And keep an eye out for Blurggs, which made their debut in these Ewok movies before becoming much more known in the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian”.
