2022 is going to be a packed year for new original content on Disney+, with a huge selection of series and films heading to the streaming service throughout the year.

There are going to be multiple Marvel and Star Wars series, along with lots of content from Disney and even more content from National Geographic.

Here’s a look at all the Disney+ Originals coming in 2022:

Note: This list is subject to change and there is likely to be more original programming announced at a later date.


Marvel

Moon Knight

“Moon Knight,” is a new globetrotting action-adventure series featuring a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him find themselves thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt. “Moon Knight” is directed by executive producer Mohamed Diab; Jeremy Slater is head writer.


She-Hulk

She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases. “She-Hulk” will welcome a host of Marvel characters to the series, including the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, and the Abomination, played by Tim Roth.

The new comedy series coming to Disney+ in 2022 and it has been directed by executive producer Kat Coiro with Anu Valia also directing. Executive producer Jessica Gao serves as head writer.


Ms Marvel

Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City. An aspiring artist, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she is a huge fan of the Avengers—and one in particular, Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Iman Vellani stars as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. The series is directed by executive producers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with executive producer Bisha K. Ali serving as head writer.

“Ms. Marvel” premieres on Disney+ in Summer 2022.

 

 

 


Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

The “Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” is slated for Disney+ during the 2022 holiday season, is written and directed by Guardians of the Galaxy veteran James Gunn.


I Am Groot

A series of original shorts exploring Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble, among the stars. Directed by executive producer Kirsten Lepore.


Star Wars


“The Book Of Boba Fett”

“The Book of Boba Fett,” a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

New episodes of “The Book Of Boba Fett” are going to be released every Wednesday throughout January and early February 2021.

 

 

 


Obi-Wan Kenobi

Ewan McGregor returns in the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+. Officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season 1, and features the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.


Andor

“Andor” is a tense nail-biting spy thriller created by Tony Gilroy, is set to arrive on Disney+ in 2022. Diego Luna, reprising the role of rebel spy Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be joined by a fantastic new cast that includes Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma.

 

 

 


Star Wars: The Bad Batch – Season 2

“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.


Disney


Cheaper by the Dozen

Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff announce that their reimagining of the hit family comedy “Cheaper by the Dozen” will be coming to Disney+ in March 2022.


Disenchanted

Stars Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey share that “Disenchanted,” the sequel to the hit film “Enchanted,” will stream exclusively on Disney+ in Fall 2022.


Better Nate Than Ever

Based on the book by Tim Federle, “Better Nate Than Ever” will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2022. The comedy adventure stars Aria Brooks, Joshua Bassett, Michelle Federer and introduces Rueby Wood as Nate, with Norbert Leo Butz and Lisa Kudrow.


Hocus Pocus 2

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will run amok again as The Sanderson Sisters in “Hocus Pocus 2,” the sequel to Disney’s Halloween cult classic, premiering Fall 2022 exclusively on Disney+.


Pinocchio

Inspired by Disney’s animated classic, this retelling, directed by Robert Zemeckis, combines live action and visual effects and stars Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans and the voices of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key and Lorraine Bracco. “Pinocchio” premieres on Disney+ in Fall 2022.


The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild

Simon Pegg is back as Buck in “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild,” an all-new movie, premiering January 28, 2022 on Disney+. In this film, we follow Buck, Crash & Eddie and a few new friends as they go on a prehistoric mission to save the Lost World from dinosaur domination.

Sneakerella

Lace up and dream big with the new trailer for the Disney+ Original Movie “Sneakerella.” Set in the avant-garde street-sneaker subculture of New York City, the high-energy, music-driven movie puts a gender-flipped twist on the “Cinderella” fairy tale. “Sneakerella” premieres exclusively on Disney+ in May 2022.

 

 

 


The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder

It’s time to get loud with the Prouds in the trailer debut for “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.” The new series, based on the Disney Channel series from the 2000s, starts streaming in February 2022.

 

 

 


The Spiderwick Chronicles

During Disney+ Day, it was announced that Disney was creating a new live-action series, “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” a modern coming-of-age story combined with fantasy adventure from Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television, one of the Disney Television Studios. The series, based on the beloved, best-selling books, follows the Grace Family—twin brothers Jared and Simon, their sister Mallory and mother Helen—as they move into their dilapidated ancestral home. They begin to unravel a dark mystery about their great-great Uncle who once discovered the secret and sometimes dangerous faerie world.


Baymax

Check in with everyone’s favorite healthcare companion in a trailer for his new Disney+ Original Series. “Baymax,” Walt Disney Animation Studios’ first-ever animated series, starts streaming exclusively on Disney+ in Summer 2022.

 

 

 


Rise

“Rise,” is a new film from Disney based on the triumphant real life story about the remarkable family that produced the first trio of brothers to become NBA champions in the history of the league– Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Laker Kostas Antetokounmpo.


Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers

This brand new live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation of the popular 1980s animated classic. It will be directed by Akiva Schaffer, who has previously directed “Popstar”. It stars John Mulaney and Andy Samberg in the title roles with Seth Rogen doing a cameo.


Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

The second animated film based on the second book in the best selling book series. It tells the story of Greg and Rodrick, two brothers, who are always at odds with each other and rarely ever get along. However, their parents are tired of their antics and constant fights, so they try to make them bond.


High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

Love is an open door outside the halls of East High. Season three of the show will follow its characters to sleepaway camp for a summer of campfires, romances, and curfew-free nights.


Zootopia+

Go back to the fast-paced mammal metropolis of Zootopia with a new series of shorts from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia+,”.


Willow

“Willow” is set decades after Ron Howard’s 1988 movie, continues the spirit of adventure, heroics and humour of the original film in this new series/ Warwick Davis will return in the role of the great sorcerer, Willow Ufgood, along with Ruby Cruz (“Mare of Easttown”), Erin Kellyman (“The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”), Ellie Bamber (“The Serpent”), Tony Revolori (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”), Amar Chadha Patel (“The Third Day”) and Dempsey Bryk (“The Birch”).


Pixar

Cars on the Road

Larry the Cable Guy revealed the title of Pixar’s upcoming “Cars” series: “Cars on the Road” at last months Disney+ Day, which sees Mater and Lightning McQueen return in this fun-filled cross-country road trip streaming in 2022. These episodes are filled with lots of fun new characters, imaginative destinations as well as old friends checking in along the way. The series is written by Steve Purcell and produced by Marc Sondheimer.


There will also be behind-the-scenes specials on Pixar’s new films, “Turning Red” and “Lightyear” coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2022.

America the Beautiful

The second batch of new episodes drops onto Disney+ on January 19th 2022.


Limitless With Chris Hemsworth

And that’s all, internationally, Disney+ is getting even more original shows throughout 2022 because of the general entertainment brand, Star.

Here are a few highlights:

Hit-Monkey

After a high-profile political assassination goes sideways, an injured hitman hides out amongst a tribe of snow monkeys in the mountains of Japan.

This adult animated series will be coming to Disney+ internationally in early 2022. Originally released on Hulu in November.

 

 

 


Pam and Tommy

American biographical drama of the outrageous untold story of the world’s first viral video – the sex tape of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and actress Pamela Anderson played by Sebastian Stan and Lily James. This new series is coming to Disney+ in February.


The Dropout

Money. Romance. Tragedy. Deception. Hulu’s limited series “The Dropout,” the story of Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried) and Theranos is an unbelievable tale of ambition and fame gone terribly wrong. How did the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire lose it all in the blink of an eye?


No Exit

This harrowing suspense-thriller follows Darby Thorne, played by Havana Rose Liu, a young woman who is stranded by a blizzard and forced to find shelter at a highway rest area with a group of strangers. The movie premieres in 2022.


Prey

An all-new entry in the “Predator” franchise, “Prey” will premiere in Summer 2022. Set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the film premieres Summer 2022.


Rosaline

A fresh comedic twist on Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” in which the classic love story is told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline…who just happens to be Romeo’s ex-girlfriend. Starring Kaitlyn Dever and directed by Karen Maine, the movie premieres in 2022.


The Princess

An irreverent action movie set in a fairy tale world. Joey King stars as a young royal who is more comfortable with a sword than a tiara and must save her kingdom from ruthless mercenaries. Directed by Le-Van Kiet, the movie premieres in Summer 2022.


And there will be plenty more Disney+ Originals heading to Disney+ throughout 2022, plus new shows from Disney’s television networks like the Disney Channel, National Geographic and ABC. In addition to new theatrical releases throughout the year.
