Disney’s ABC is currently developing a reboot of the hit 80s show “The Wonder Years”, and ABC has released a video featuring Fred Savage, who played the lead role in the original Wonder Years and is directing the pilot, where he revealed that Elisha “EJ” Williams has been cast as its lead character.
Elisha “EJ” Williams will be playing Dean, who is an inquisitive and hopeful 12-year-old who’s coming of age in a turbulent time and trying to figure out his place both within his family and in the larger world. Dean is a little insecure, a tad awkward and a bit self-conscious, but he is determined to make his mark on the world around him.
ABC has given a pilot order for “The Wonder Years”,, which like the original series, will be set in the 1960s, but will centre on a Black family in Montgomery, Alabama. “The Big Bang Theory” writer Saladin K. Patterson is working on the show, along with executive producer Lee Daniels.
Elisha “EJ” Williams also provides the voice of Bingo in Disney Junior’s “Puppy Dog Pals”.
Saycon Sengbloh has previously been revealed to be starring in the ABC pilot and will play Dean’s mother, Lillian.
