Earth Moods is the latest National Geographic series to arrive on Disney+ and it’s a little different. This series takes viewers on the ultimate retreat—transporting them to a vast array of colourful and calming corners of the world.
There are five episodes available in the first season, taking viewers around the globe to visit some of the worlds most beautiful locations including blue glaciers, arid deserts, stunning beaches, lush rainforests and pulsating metropolises. Each episode is about 30 minutes long and they give the audience an opportunity to relax and reset as the sound of music and the natural world washes over them.
Every shot looks visually stunning and while it does seem like an odd choice of content for Disney+, these type of videos are very popular on YouTube and I’m sure plenty of people are going to find this series to be useful. It’s also a great way of showing off your latest 4K television! Since it just looks stunning on a big screen.
It’s very tranquil and just relaxing. If you need something to help you unwind or to help you fall asleep, this series might help. I’ve found myself leaving them on in the background while I’m writing or editing a video, the soft music just breaks the silence and when you look up from your screen, there is some beautiful scenery to go along with it.
There are so many incredible sights in this series, the overhead drone shots from above cities such as Chicago, San Francisco, Sydney and Los Angeles just are so intriguing. If you enjoy the National Geographic series “From Above”, which also uses drone footage to showcase famous locations, you might enjoy this series too. It just doesn’t have any commentary, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing since the footage says it all.
This isn’t the type of content that you just sit down and watch, it’s there to be in the background, to bring some calm to your life. It’s got some beautiful scenery, that is worth seeing. But you might dip in and out of an episode, since you might end up popping each episode on countless times, so every time you look at the screen, you might see something different.
“Earth Moods” isn’t for everyone, it’s niche content that has a different use and I’ve no doubt that there will be lots of people who get lots of enjoyment out of this series. It’s visually stunning and has some beautiful relaxing soft music, that I found extremely pleasant to experience.
