The third season of the rebooted animated Ducktales series is just coming to an end on Disney XD and according to Collider’s Associate Editor, Drew Taylor, the show won’t be returning for a fourth season.

Disney hasn’t yet officially announced that the show has been renewed for a fourth season, but it did reveal the third season before the premiere of the second season.

UPDATE – Disney has now confirmed in a statement:

“The talented creative team, led by Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones, have delivered exceptional storytelling with uniquely reimagined characters for three seasons of 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts.  While physical production has wrapped, ‘DuckTales’ continues to be available on Disney Channels and Disney+ around the world and fans will get an epic season finale in 2021.”

Based on the Emmy Award-winning series treasured by a generation of viewers, Disney’s Emmy Award-nominated animated comedy-adventure series “DuckTales” chronicles the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire Scrooge McDuck; his mischief-making triplet grandnephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie; temperamental nephew, Donald Duck; and the trusted McDuck Manor team: big-hearted, fearless chauffer/pilot Launchpad McQuack, no-nonsense housekeeper Mrs. Beakley and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack, resident adventurer and the triplet’s fierce friend.

Only recently it was revealed Disney was making a new series featuring Darkwing Duck, which is a spin-off from the Ducktales show.

Disney has a long history of cancelling shows at the end of the third season and with over 65 episodes, that’s on par with many popular shows.

The first two seasons of Ducktales (2017), along with the original 80’s series are available on Disney+.

How do you feel about “Ducktales” possibly not coming back for a fourth season?

I am so sick of Disney doing this crap! I am so sick of DIS drawing us in for fan favorites only to leave us hanging shortly thereafter. The same crap happened wifh Star Vs. The Forces of the Universe and Gravity Falls. The list is HUGE! I am about to just give up on Disney animation altogether. Their programming and development department is becoming garbage. No wonder Netflix is taking their top talent so easily.
