Disney Working On A New “Haunted Mansion” Movie
Following the success of “The Pirates Of The Caribbean” franchise, Disney is once again looking at its theme park attractions as inspiration for new movies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has hired screenwriter Katie Dippold to write the script for the film. She has previously worked on the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.
The film is going to be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who have previously worked together on Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” movie last year.
It’s intended to head to cinemas first, rather than being a Disney+ Original.
This summer would have seen the release of “The Jungle Cruise”, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt, which is also based on a classic Disneyland theme park attraction, but was delayed a year due to the Coronavirus. Other theme park themed movies include “The Country Bears”, “Tomorrowland” and “Tower Of Terror”.
Disney has previously released a “Haunted Mansion” movie starring Eddie Murphy, which is currently available on Disney+.
In the attraction, guests climb aboard a gloomy Doom Buggy for a grave journey through a labyrinth of haunted chambers, which include a variety of characters including the Hatbox Ghost, Hitchhikers, Madame Leota and many more.
