Yesterday we shared news of a new Disney+ show based on Disney Villains will going into production next year and today, Deadline has revealed more details on this new show.

The new series is being adapted from the popular Villains “Book of Enchantment” book series by Serena Valentino, which featuring some of Disney’s most popular villains including Maleficent, Mother Gothel, The Evil Queen, Ursula, Beast and more. There have been 5 books in the series so far including “Fairest of All”, “Mistress of All Evil”, “The Beast Within”, “Poor Unfortunate Soul” and “Mother Knows Best” with a sixth “The Old Sisters: A Villains Novel” coming out later this year.

This project has apparently been in development for over six months and is currently in the stages of putting together a writing team for the series, with a writers room being slated to open in April, with the series starting filming in 2020.

Yesterday we reported that the show is set to be recorded in Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland, but apparently the team have also been scouting locations in the UK.   And filming some of this show in Ireland and the UK , would also help Disney+ fulfill European regulations about having content created in Europe.

The new Villains series is being Steve Pearlman (Once Upon A Time ) and Michael Seitzman (Quantico), who is writing the script and will also act as the showrunner.

What do you think of a Villains series based on the “Book Of Enchantment” series?
