Disney+ Set To Reach 82 Million Subscribers By 2024
With just over 2 months until the launch of Disney+, the latest forecast from Digital TV Research, will be good news for the Disney Streaming Services team.
They are predicting that Disney+ will reach 82 million subscribers worldwide by 2024. With Netflix continuing to grow to 219 million subscribers by the same year. Amazon Prime would stand in second position with 127 million subscribers but Apple TV would only manage to gain 13 million subscribers by 2024.
While Disney+ would fall behind Amazon, in terms of SVOD revenue, Disney will rank ahead of Amazon, according to its forecast. Digital TV Research is predicting that Disney+ will generate $7.4 billion in revenue by 2024, ahead of Amazon’s estimated $6.0 billion. With Disney+ gaining a 8% share of the global SVOD subscriber total.
Digital TV Research has said that “The number of gross SVOD subscriptions will increase by 91 percent, or 462 million, between 2018 and 2024 to reach 970 million.”
As traditional television viewing falls and people turn to video on demand, its easy to see why Disney is so heavily focused on its new streaming services.
