The 92nd annual Academy Awards have been announced this morning at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California and Disney has picked up a number of nominations including the Disney+ Original “Kitbull” has been nominated for “Best Animated Short”.

Other upcoming Disney+ movies getting nominated include “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker”, which picked up some nominations including for “Best Original Score”, “Best Visual Effects” and “Sound Editing”.

And Toy Story 4 was nominated for “Best Animated Feature” and “Best Original Song” for ‘I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away,’.

With Frozen 2 also picking up an nomination for “Best Original Song” for “Into The Unknown”

“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” picked up a nomination for “Best Makeup and Hair” and both Avengers: Endgame and “The Lion King” also were nominated in the “Best Visual Effects” category.

And National Geographic picked up a nomination for “Best Documentary Feature” for “The Cave”.

It was the 20th Century Fox movies, “Ford V Ferrari” and “JoJo Rabbit” which picked up the most award nominations, with “Breakthrough” and “Ad Astra” also picking up a nomination each.

“JoJo Rabbit” was nominated for “Best Costume Design”, “Best Film Editing”, “Best Adapted Screenplay”, “Best Production Design” and “Best Picture”.  And Scarlett Johannson was nominated for “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in the movie.

“Ford v Ferrari” also was nominated for “Best Picture”, “Best Film Editing”, “Best Sound Editing” and “Best Sound Mixing”.

And “Ad Astra” also picked up a nomination for “Best Sound Mixing”.  With ‘I’m Standing With You’ from Breakthrough was also nominated for “Best Original Song”.

 

Overall Disney has been able to pick up lots of nominations for this year’s Oscars, which is taking place on February 9th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
