Earlier this summer, Disney released a brand new live-action drama series called “Turner & Hooch”, which was a sequel/reboot to the classic 1980s comedy of the same name.
In the series, an ambitious, buttoned-up US Marshal called Scott, played by Josh Peck, inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the dog he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.
The series was released this past summer on Disney+ and the finale ended with a cliffhanger, teasing a potential second season.
However, that doesn’t look to be happening, as recently, actor Brandon Jay McLaren, who plays Scott’s US Marshall partner Xavier Wilson, took to social media to reply to a fan about the series being renewed, saying
Don’t hold your breath. You’ll die.
Brandon also liked and responded to some other tweets about the series not being renewed. Including retweeting an NSFW reply from a fan to that social media post, giving a strong indication that he isn’t happy about the renewal news either.
Earlier this year, Disney announced it was renewing “Mysterious Benedict Society”, “Big Shot” and “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” for a second season, as well as a third season for “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”. But there was no announcement for “Turner & Hooch”.
Honestly, while the series had some potential, I’m not entirely shocked by this news. The series did suffer from a bit of an identity crisis, with the first few episodes being spoofs of established movies like “Die Hard” and the original film, before getting becoming more a traditional cop show, but because of the limitations of it being a Disney branded show, it couldn’t do the storylines properly, resulting in a rather bland cop show.
You’ll find the entire “Turner & Hooch” season on Disney+, in addition to the original 1980s movie.
What do you think of “Turner & Hooch” not being renewed for another season?
