Disney is set to announced more details on its direct to consumer streaming platforms at their Investor Day event on Thursday 10th December, which is expected to include details on the global rollout of Disney+.

It looks like Disney is now starting to get prepared for the launch of Disney+ in South East Asia, as a listing on the companies career page is showing a number of jobs available in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Singapore and in Bangkok, Thailand.

This follows the recent announcement of Disney hiring Ahmad Izham Omar as the executive director of content & creative for Disney+ of South East Asia and he will be based in Singapore, which recently saw the launch of “Hotstar” as a new streaming service.  Disney+ Hotstar also launched earlier this year in Indonesia

Over the past year, since Disney+ launched, we’ve seen a similar trend of Disney recruiting new jobs months before the new service goes live, so this could be a good indicator of Disney+ launching in South East Asia at some point in 2021.

With South East Asia’s having a population of over 655 million, which is about 8.5% of the world’s population, launching in this region is vital for the success of Disney+ globally.

Hopefully it won’t be too long until Disney+ launches throughout South East Asia and we will get a clearer picture during the Walt Disney Companies Investor Day on Thursday.

When do you think Disney+ will launch in South East Asia?
