The Walt Disney Company South-East Asia has announced that Ahmad Izham Omar has been made the executive director of content & creative for Disney+.

Ahmad Izham Omar is based in Singapore and is starting immediately.  Disney+ hasn’t yet launched in Singapore and has only launched in a few countries within Asia so far, India, Japan and Indonesia.

He will be responsible for developing and producing original programming as well as acquiring content, ensuring end-to-end title launch readiness.  In addition to overseeing the production of surround content for major sports and general entertainment programs.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek has said that they will be making more announcements about its streaming service at its upcoming Investor Day on December 10th, where it’s expected we find out the roadmap for the rest of the international rollout plans for Disney+ and Star.

“(Ahmad Izham) joins the team at an important juncture when Disney+ is expanding its footprint in South-East Asia, and his strategic vision, breadth of experience and outstanding leadership will be key in steering Disney’s creative engine and delighting subscribers with the magic of our storytelling,” said Malhotra in a statement.

Ahmad Izham was previously the CEO of Primeworks Studios at Media Prima and played a major part in launching 8TV, along with the streaming platform, Tonton.
