Before Disney purchased 21st Century Fox, a new adult animated series featuring Marvel’s Deadpool was in development at FX. The show was being created by Donald and Stephen Glover, who were going to be showrunners, executive producers and writers on the animated series. Also involved in the project was Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
However, the series never got going due to a disagreement with the creators and frustration from Donald Glover.
But it looks like another new Deadpool adult animated series is in development over at the new 20th Television Animation Studio, which creates “Family Guy”, “Bob’s Burgers” and “Central Park”.
According to the site Bubbleblabber via Murphy’s Multiverse, there are rumors that one of the mystery projects that 20th Television Animation Studios is working on is an R-rated Deadpool series starring Ryan Reynolds, who may be in talks for the titular role. He is currently developing a third Deadpool film.
It’s important to stress that nothing has yet been confirmed and should still be considered a rumor, but considering how popular adult animated series are on Hulu and now on Disney+ internationally due to the Star brand’s addition. It doesn’t seem too much of a stretch to see Marvel create an adult animated series for Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally as part of Star.
Deadpool has already appeared in many Marvel animated series, including “Ultimate Spider-Man”.
