Disney is currently developing a brand new film based on the classic Disney theme park attraction, “The Haunted Mansion”.
No plot details have yet been revealed, but the film follows a mother and her son who come across a mansion that is more than it seems while being orbited by various characters key to undressing the spooky mystery.
According to THR, Danny Devito is joining the new film’s cast and will be playing a smug professor.
The film will also star Owen Wilson, Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish.
“The Haunted Mansion” will be directed by Justin Simien, who has previously directed “Dear White People” and “Bad Hair”. With “Aladdin” producers, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, producing the film, along with Nick Reynolds. Katie Dippold has written the script for the film.
Danny Devito has appeared in many films over this career, including the live-action version of “Dumbo”, “Batman Returns”, and “Twins”.
Disney has released a live-action film based on the attraction before and starred Eddie Murphy, which is available on Disney+. Also, most recently, “The Muppets” took a trip to the Haunted Mansion for a Disney+ special.
