A couple of years ago, Disney announced that Marvel was developing a brand new Disney+ series called “Kingdom Of Wakanda”, which is being developed by Black Panther director and co-writer Ryan Coogler, who has a five-year overall exclusive television deal with Disney.

It was revealed that lawyer Jamie Mandelbaum had brokered a deal for actress Danai Gurira to not only reprise her role as Okoye, who is the General of the Dora Milaje, in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and also star in an origin spinoff series for Disney+.  Since then, we’ve heard almost nothing about this project since.

While promoting the upcoming release of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” on Disney+ on February 1st 2023, Danai Gurira, who plays Okoye in the film, appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, where she was asked if her character might get a “Black Panther” spinoff Disney+ series.

Her response was rather coy, but she did hint there is a possibility in the future:

“Stephen… I have been told that I can gently allude to this possibility. So, I am gently alluding. Just gently.”

Officially, Marvel Studios hasn’t announced any new series featuring Okoye, with Danai Gurira, publically alluding to a potential series. Hopefully, it won’t be too long until we hear some more details on the future “Black Panther” related projects.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is coming to Disney+ on February 1st 2023.
