Earlier this year it was revealed that Disney was going to be making a live-action/CGI hybrid version remake of the classic animated Disney Afternoon series, “Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers”.

The DisInsider has reported that the movie will now be released as a Disney+ Original.

Production is set to begin next spring in Los Angeles, California. Plus there are rumblings that all of the original voice cast Tress MacNeille (Chip and Gadget), Corey Burton (Dale and Zipper), and Jim Cummings (Monterey Jack) from the 90s series, will be returning for the film.

“Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers“ will be directed by Akiva Schaffer, who has previously directed “Hot Rod“ and “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping“, along with Andy Samberg and Jorma Tacoma. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing, with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand writing the script.

No official details have yet been announced by Disney.

The original animated series from the 1990s is available to stream on Disney+ now. In the original series, viewers join the courageous Chip ‘n’ Dale along with their friends Gadget Hackwrench, Zipper and Monterey Jack as they face off against some of the most outrageous villains the world has ever seen. Whether investigating stolen peanut supplies at the local zoo or thwarting the plans of the evil Fat Cat and his gang, the Rescue Rangers use their unique perspective to solve mysteries that leave the police baffled.
