New details have emerged via Variety on the upcoming Home Alone movie for Disney+, with three actors now connected to the reboot, Archie Yates, Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney.

Archie Yates has recently starred in Fox Searchlights Jojo Rabbit and he will be playing a new character, though it will have a similar premise to the original.

The new Home Alone film will follow a husband (Rob Delaney) and wife (Ellie Kemper) who go to war with a young boy, Max, who has stolen from them. Max is an energetic, witty nine-year-old boy with a mischievous side. He feels wise beyond his years and has the personality to easily converse with adults—plus the uncanny ability to relentlessly push their buttons. But, he also displays a sense of innocence and a kind heart, much like the original protagonist.

The film is going to be directed by Dan Mazer, who has previously worked on Dirty Grampa and the Ali G show in the UK.  The script has been written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. It will also see Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson produce the film.

This new Home Alone movie will be the first project made by 20th Century Fox for Disney+.  Filming is due to begin in February, though no official release date has yet been confirmed.
