Just ahead of the Labor Day Weekend, TVLine has revealed that the “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off series, “How I Met Your Father” has been cancelled after two seasons.  The show has been released as a Hulu Original in the United States and as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.

The show is set in the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

The series stars Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Suraj Sharma as well as recurring stars, Kim Cattrall, Daniel Augustin, Ashley Reyes and Josh Peck

“How I Met Your Father” was created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Executive producers include Aptaker, Berger, Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Pamela Fryman, Adam Londy and Suzy Mamann Greenberg. Hilary Duff serves as a producer. “How I Met Your Father” is a production of 20th Television.

Unfortunately, the series never seemed to get the same attention that the original series did, as it did have pretty low ratings, though it was able to score an extended second episode.  The second season was only released on Disney’s streaming services this past summer.

The two seasons are available to stream now on Hulu in the United States, on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.  As with any cancelled series, if you haven’t finished the latest season or want to watch the show, I’d recommend doing so now, just in case Disney decides to remove it as a write-off as it has done with many other shows like “Willow”, “Single Drunk Female” and “Pistol”.
