Last night, Disney hosted the European Premiere of the new 20th Television series “Dopesick” at the Curzon Mayfair as part of the BFI London Film Festival. The series creator, Danny Strong, along with actors Will Poulter and Kaitlyn Dever, attended the premiere and took to the red carpet to promote the new show.
“Dopesick” tells the story of how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. Look into the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction, from a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA, and to the opulence of “one percenter” Big Pharma Manhattan.
The series is directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man) and features a heavyweight cast including Rosario Dawson, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, Peter Sarsgaard and Kaitlyn Dever.
Following the screening of the first two episodes, Danny Strong, Will Poulter and Kaitlyn Dever, took part in a Q&A session with the audience, where they shared stories of how great it was to work with Michael Keaton and Danny Strong shared his thoughts on what the big pharma companies are going to think of this series once it’s been released to everyone. Other topics discussed included a story about how Danny Strong was developing a series about the opioid crisis and Disney had just got the rights to “Dopesick”, so the two projects were merged together.
Also at the event were a number of celebrities including Jack Whitehall, Amber Doig-Thorne, Jodie Kidd, Jaime Lang and Roman Kemp.
Here are some official red carpet photos from the event:
