With the start of a new month, I’ve picked out some of the best movies coming to Disney+ in Canada in April 2021. There are many classic movies from Disney and 20th Century Studios arriving throughout the month including the brand new Oscar-nominated film “Nomadland”.

Here’s the rundown:
A woman in her sixties who, after losing everything in the Great Recession, embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad.
Nomadland debuts on Disney+ on Friday 9th April.
With his impeccable vocal abilities, Freddie Mercury and his rock band, Queen, achieve superstardom. However, amidst his skyrocketing success, he grapples with his ego, sexuality and a fatal illness.
This fantastic film arrives on Disney+ on Friday 30th April
Captured by smugglers when he was just a hatchling, a macaw named Blu never learned to fly and lives a happily domesticated life in Minnesota with his human friend, Linda. Blu is thought to be the last of his kind, but when word comes that Jewel, a lone female, lives in Rio de Janeiro, Blu and Linda go to meet her. Animal smugglers kidnap Blu and Jewel, but the pair soon escape and begin a perilous adventure back to freedom — and Linda.
It’s a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they’re hurtled from Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all: his father-in-law.
Both Rio and Rio 2 are coming to Disney+ on Friday 16th April
Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale
It’s the 17th century, and Native American Squanto (Adam Beach) roams free in the New World until he’s captured by visiting sailors who take him back to England. Monk Brother Daniel (Mandy Patinkin) teaches him social customs, but other Englishmen aren’t as kind. Squanto becomes the unwilling star of performances that highlight his fighting skills, but he eventually engineers a return trip to America. He finds that his home has changed forever, and he must chart a new path for his people.

The Beverly Hillbillies
A farming family strikes it rich and moves to a plush Los Angeles suburb, to the horror of the locals.

Alvin and the Chipmunks
A struggling songwriter named Dave Seville finds success when he comes across a trio of singing chipmunks: mischievous leader Alvin, brainy Simon, and chubby, impressionable Theodore.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked
The Chipmunks and Chipettes are on a cruise ship when their pranks go overboard. They end up on a deserted, tropical island and soon discover that they are not really alone.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
Back in school, Alvin, Simon and Theodore must save the school’s music programme by winning the battle of the bands. For this, they must beat Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette, also called The Chipettes.
All three Alvin and the Chipmunks films will arrive on Disney+ in Canada on Friday 9th April.
White Fang 2: Myth of the White Wolf
The story revolves around the White Fang and Henry who get washed away by the ocean current. They land up in a tribal area and help the tribals in saving their sacred land.

The Kid Who Would Be King
Alex, a 12-year-old boy, and his friends fight an evil sorceress with the help of Excalibur, the sword of King Arthur, in a bid to save the world from her atrocities.
The Kid Who Would Be King is coming to Disney+ on Friday 16th April
Tolkien is a storyteller and part of a tight group of artists from whom he draws inspiration for his work. However, his work and relationship with Edith, his lover, is threatened during WWI.
This precious film will be arriving on Disney+ on Friday 2nd April.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!
This joyous celebration of frontier life combines tender romance and violent passion in the Oklahoma Territory of the 1900s with a timeless score filled with unforgettable songs. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s hit Broadway musical.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! is coming to Disney+ on Friday 30th April.
Light It Up
The topical story of a group of high school students who form a protest when they become fed up with their school’s poor conditions. After a shot is accidentally fired and a police officer is wounded, the resulting stand-off results in a media frenzy that pits the dirt-digging media against the well-intentioned students.

Baby’s Day Out
Three bumbling crooks pose as photographers to kidnap the son of a millionaire. But the baby turns out to be smarter than them, making it difficult for them to hold on to him.

Feud: Bette and Joan
The feud between actresses Joan Crawford and Bette Davis grabs public attention while they have to endure discrimination in Hollywood.
Feud will drop onto Disney+ in Canada on Friday 2nd April.
South Pacific (1959)
Nurse Nellie Forbush (Mitzi Gaynor) of the U.S. Navy falls for middle-aged French plantation owner Emile De Becque (Rossano Brazzi), but recoils upon discovering that he’s fathered two mixed-race children. When Nellie leaves him, the heartbroken Emile agrees to take on a dangerous espionage mission. In his absence, Nellie struggles to reconcile her prejudices with her love for him — and after she spends time with his children and comes to care for them, fears that Emile may not return alive.
This classic 1950s film is arriving on Disney+ on Friday 30th April.
