During the second season of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian”, Ahsoka Tano revealed that she was on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn.  This was the first time the character had been referenced in the live-action universe, though the character has appeared in many books and comic books, in addition to being the main villain in the “Star Wars: Rebels” animated series.

There has been much speculation over who might play the character in “The Mandalorian”, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will be one of the most popular fan casting, Benedict Cumberbatch, as during a press event for his new film The Courier, he was asked by Collider about potentially being in the series.

COLLIDER: There’s a lot of people that would like you to play a character called Grand Admiral Thrawn, and I’m just curious if you’ve heard people saying this because I could see you playing this role.

CUMBERBATCH: Grand Admiral Thrawn? Does he turn into Peter Cushing, or something? Is that…?

COLLIDER: No. He’s blue. He’s a very cool character that’s a villain… you’d be under a blue makeup thing. I’m just curious if you’d heard about it.

CUMBERBATCH: That’s a straight no from me, right now. There’s no way I want to be turned blue. I turned the air blue, very recently. No no, seriously, I have precious time with my children and I think sitting in a makeup chair and being painted blue, and the amount of time it would take to do that and then take it off at the end of the day might just… it’s not the right time in my life for that.

Unfortunately, Benedict doesn’t sound like he would be interested in playing the role if they have to use real makeup.

It’s currently not known if Grand Admiral Thrawn will be appearing in the upcoming Mandalorian series, but is expected to be part of the spin-off series “Ahsoka”, since its already been established that she is trying to track him down.

Who do you think should play Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Star Wars Disney+ series?
