The ever-changing Disney release schedule continues to get wrecked by the Coronavirus, with cinemas closed much longer than expected and filming production not going back to normal.  Disney has now announced that all four of the Avatar sequels have been delayed a year, pushing back the schedule for Star Wars movies, which will be rotating on alternate Christmas releases with Avatar.

Here are the new Avatar sequel dates:

  • AVATAR 2’ – December, 16th, 2022
  • AVATAR 3’ – December 20th, 2024
  • AVATAR 4’ – December 18th, 2026
  • AVATAR 5’ – December 22th, 2028

Filming is currently underway in New Zealand on the new Avatar movies, but it did suffer from months of delays due to the country locking down.  The movie’s director James Cameron took to social media to give details on the delay:

This isn’t the first time the movies have been delayed and hopefully, it will be the last time.

The original Avatar movie is available to stream on Disney+ now.

What do you think of these Avatar delays?
