Earlier this year, Kevin Feige announced the first Marvel Studios animated series, What If? for Disney+.

The series takes takes inspiration from the comic books of the same name. Each episode will explore a pivotal moment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turn it on its head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.

Back at the San Diego Comic Con, it was announced the majority of the cast from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies would be returning to provide their voices for the series, however Captain America actor Chris Evans and Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr weren’t announced for the series.

However, during a recent interview with Buzzfeed to promote his Disney+ series, The World According To Jeff Goldblum, he revealed that he went to Disney Studios recently to record for What If…? 

“This episode included the Grandmaster and Iron Man.  So Robert Downey [Jr.] will do a voice in that. And Korg, Taika Waititi, had already recorded his voice for that.”

This is certainly good news to hear Robert Downey Jr will be returning to play the role for the animated series, since the majority of the cast is coming back including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, Jeffrey Wright, Paul Rudd.

The series will include one episode that sees Agent Carter injected with super serum to become Captain Carter rather than Steve Rogers, with another episode sees the Winter Soldier face off with a zombie Captain America.

What If will be coming to Disney+ in the second year, which could be between November 2020 and October 2021.
