One of the many “Star Wars” films currently in development is an untitled film by Taika Waititi, who has previously created “Thor: Ragnarok” and the FX series, “What We Do In The Shadows”.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Taika Waititi appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” to promote his new Searchlight Pictures’ film, “Next Goal Wins”, and during the interview, Taika opened up about why it’s taking so long for him to write his new “Star Wars” film.

“I’ve been developing [the Star Wars film] for a few years, but I think with any film, but that one in particular, it’s something I’d really like to get right so I don’t want to rush it,” Waititi said. “It’s going to bubble along on the side…I wanna capture that joy and entertainment of those early ones like The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and all those ones, so I’m trying to figure that out. It’ll happen.”

Taika is no stranger to the “Star Wars” franchise, having previously directed an episode of “The Mandalorian” and also playing the voice of IG-11 in the show.

Over the past few years, many “Star Wars” films haven’t gotten past the writing stage, and it seems like Taika is making sure the story is right, before moving on to the next step, which is probably a good thing, since the franchise needs to trend carefully with its next few steps as the franchise steps away from the Skywalker saga.

There are many other “Star Wars” films currently in development, including one by “Logan” director James Mangold, which is set during the era of the origin of the Jedi, while Dave Filoni is set to direct a film that brings together all of his “Mandoverse” Disney+ series like “The Mandalorian”, “Skeleton Crew” and “Ahsoka” together.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is creating a new film set years after the events of “The Rise Of Skywalker” with Rey (Daisy Ridley) rebuilding the Jedi Order, Donald Glover is working on a new “Lando” project (which was going to be a Disney+ show, but now it’s being reworked as a film), and Shawn Levy is also working on an unknown “Star Wars” movie.

While all these projects being in development is great, no new film has yet begun production, but in the meantime, we’ve got plenty of new Disney+ shows to enjoy, including, “The Acolyte”, “Skeleton Crew” and the second season of “Andor”.
