Following the huge success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, many fans have been speculating about future films starring our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.  And recently, Thomas Haden Church, who played the Sandman in “Spider-Man 3” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, revealed that he has “heard rumours” of a potential new film that Sami Raimi would direct and see Tobey Maguire return as the wall-crawler.

In an interview with ComicBook, Thomas spoke about wanting to do a cameo in a new film and said:

“There’s always been some kind of…I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo,”

Sami Raimi has recently directed Marvel’s “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness”, which followed the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, and he has also previously said that he would be open to directing a fourth “Spider-Man” film.

“I’ve come to realize after making Doctor Strange that anything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups.  I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible. I don’t really have a story or a plan. I don’t know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don’t know what their thoughts are about that. I haven’t really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful. Even if it wasn’t a Spider-Man movie, I’d love to work with Tobey again, in a different role.”

With the multiverse now established and with Sony continuing to make films as part of its own Spider-Verse, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Sony or Marvel trying to make this a possibility.

The three Tobey Maguire films are available on Disney+ in many countries around the world.
