20th Century Studios is developing a new film about the founder of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Herd, which currently doesn’t have an official title.

Lily James will play the lead role and also produce the film, which is now in pre-production and set to begin filming later this year.   Lily has previously worked with Disney on many projects including “Cinderella” and “Pam & Tommy”.

No plot details on the upcoming film have been revealed, but in real life, the story has been inspired by the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, who co-founded Tinder but left in 2014 and launched the competitor, Bumble. When the company went public in 2021, Wolfe Herd became one of the youngest self-made billionaires at the age of 31. She stepped down as the CEO of the company in 2023.

According to Deadline, the upcoming film will be made with Ethea Entertainment, with Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay producing. Rachel Lee Goldenberg will direct the film, which is based on a script she wrote along with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele.

The project will be also executive produced by Gala Gordon, and Sarah Shepard will oversee it for 20th Century Studios.

The film is planned to be released in 2025. It’s unknown if the film will be released in cinemas first or if it will be a Hulu/Star Original straight-to-streaming movie.
