ABC Orders Pilot For Kevin Costner’s “National Parks” Series
Disney’s ABC has ordered a new pilot for a new drama series called “National Parks”, which follows around a small group of elite NPS agents as they solve these crimes while protecting these national treasures.
This new drama has been c0-written by Kevin Costner, along with Aaron Helbing and Jon Baird. These three will also be executive producing the project, along with A+E Studios president Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. With Anthony Hemingway also executive producing and he will be directing the pilot. Sources close to “THR” have stated that Kevin Costner won’t be starring in the series.
A+E Studios and 20th Television will make the show. With Rod Lake, Ivan Cohen and Ken Halsband overseeing the project for Costner’s Territory Pictures Entertainment.
“National Parks” was given a pilot order two years ago. However, the pilot was delayed in filming due to the pandemic and other timing issues from showrunner Aaron Helbing, who is working on CW’s “The Flash”.
Kevin Costner said the following about the show:
“Our partners at ABC, 20th Television and A+E Studios have given me a great environment to step out of my comfort zone and deliver something special,”
“National Parks” is the second ABC collaboration with A+E Studios, which is a co-owned by Hearst Communications and Disney. They previously worked together on “Big Sky”, which has recently returned to ABC and will be coming to Disney+ internationally later this month. Expect this show to follow other ABC shows onto Hulu in the United States after airing on ABC and to head to Disney+ internationally as a “Star Original”.
